Restorative Dentistry in Edmonton

What is Restorative Dentistry?

Restorative dentistry is a broad group of services used to restore full health and function to the mouth. Fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, and other treatments are all considered restorative dentistry.

When you need teeth reinforced, repaired, or replaced, you may need restorative dentistry. There are two types of dental restoration: direct and indirect.

Dental Restorations – Direct

Have a cavity that needs filling? Did a fall or other accident cause your tooth to chip slightly?

Direct restorations may be the solution.

When possible, direct restorations are the preferred treatment option. That’s because direct restorations leave most of your tooth intact. We simply use a dental filling to repair the tooth, restoring its integrity and health.

This filling is most often tooth-coloured, and strong enough to withstand significant pressure.

Dental Restorations – Indirect

Do you have missing teeth? Are you concerned you might need a root canal treatment?

Indirect restorations can help.

Indirect restorations are any type of restorative treatment that doesn’t involve dental filling. Dental crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants are all forms of indirect restoration.

All of our indirect restorations are custom-made to fit your mouth in a lab. They restore function and feel – in other words, they look, feel, and act like natural teeth.

Dental Crowns

Back in the day, crowns were only for royalty. Today, you can feel like a king or queen with our custom-fitted dental crowns.

Crowns are the most commonly used indirect restoration. When a tooth is too compromised for a filling, but still healthy enough to stay in your mouth, we can place a crown over it. We offer a variety of different types of dental crowns.

Whether you’ve had a root canal, or you have a damaged tooth that needs to be reinforced, we have the dental crown for you.

Dental Bridges

When you’re missing one or several teeth, but you still have healthy teeth intact, dental bridges can restore the look, feel, and function of your smile.

The process is straightforward – using healthy teeth as anchors, we create a bridge that fills in the gaps created by missing teeth. These bridges contain custom-made and fitted artificial teeth that look and feel almost exactly like natural teeth.

Dentures

If you’re missing teeth and dental bridges aren’t a suitable option, our full and partial dentures can help.

Denture technology has improved significantly in the last few decades. All of our dentures are custom-made so that they fit your mouth perfectly. They’re easy to clean and care for, and they look and feel very much like natural teeth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a wonderful solution for patients who are missing one or two teeth.

We can use implants to restore your oral health. The treatment is sophisticated – a titanium rod is implanted into your jawbone. The titanium will fuse with your jawbone, creating a permanent root for an artificial tooth that we connect to the rod. This tooth is custom-fitted, and looks and feels natural.
